Joanie Mix is a performer, choreographer and teacher throughout the Twin Cities area. After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a BFA in dance, she performed with Carl Flink's Black Label Movement as well as Paula Mann and Steve Paul's Time Track Productions. Joanie has created choreography for La Vie Theater, Apple Valley High School, the Phipps Center for the Arts Dance Company, and has also created her own works. Her show, Making Dolls, created the company name Rainy Day Cabaret (as a part of the 2007 MN Fringe Festival) and was followed by Strange Happenings at Jackknife Junction (2009), Wake the Dead (2009 and 2010) and Grim Walks Tonight (2011 MN Fringe Festival). In the Spring of 2010 she directed and co-created an original work entitled RISE for the Rochester Dance Company under the funding of the Southeast Minnesota Arts Council with the assistance of fellow Rainy Day Cabaret dancers Lindsay Bullock, Carrie Lande Homuth and Jennifer Mack.
